Character name: Taro Sakana
Fandom: Sakana
Timeline: Chapter 9, after having a boy's night
Age: 26
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: Taro's a pretty normal dude, but he's really good at fights and knows how to butcher fish.
How would they use their abilities?: More than likely, he'd use his strength to help out his bro and help create the best space fish market.
Appearance: 5'4'', Japanese, brownish-black hair, brown eyes, huge glasses, stocky build.

Taro has long, thick black hair that he usually keeps tied in a ponytail that somehow resembles a whale tail. He has a few piercings in both his ears leftover from his delinquent days and some stubble. His nose is next to nonexistent, and his eyes appear much larger than they are due to his glasses. He's a short and stocky guy, his muscles well developed after years of fighting/butchering fish. He has a tattoo of a blue octopus covering the whole of his back with some of the tentacles hanging over his shoulders.

Taro's not very fashion-conscientious and wears pretty average looking clothes. He tends to favor comfortable clothes that he can get dirty, and as such, wears hoodies and jeans a lot. His work clothes are basically his every day clothes + an apron and galoshes.

Background/Personality: Taro grew up a pretty messed up hid. When Taro was nine, his parents died in a car accident, and he and his brother were taken in by their aunt and uncle. Taro changed greatly because of his parent's death. Over the years, he grew angry and lashed out with violence. He frequently got into fights with his cousin Genji, and later on as a teenager, joined a gang. He also grew especially protective of his younger brother Jiro, to the point of threatening and beating up people who didn't like Jiro.

Taro never got along with his cousin Genji, what with Genji being a giant butt and eating all the pudding. Genji had always seemed to think himself better than his cousins, and lorded over the fact that no matter what he did, Taro wouldn't be able to retaliate because they were cousins. This rivalry escalated well into their teenage years, at which point the two of them joined opposing street gangs. They butted heads on several occasions, until a point came where Taro no longer wanted to be part of that lifestyle. Surprisingly, Genji helped Taro get out of this, but unsurprisingly, brings it up every time he goes to borrow cash from his family.

After Taro had finished high school, he disappeared from the Sakana household. He was gone for four years, and when he came back, he had mellowed out a bit from his teenager days, though was still pretty angry and violent. When Taro came back, he started working at his uncle's fish stall as the new butcher. Over the next four years, Taro mellowed out even more and began to resemble a functioning member of society once more. Right now his biggest concern is to bond with his younger brother.

In the comic, Taro encourages his brother to talk to the Cash Register Girl from the opposite stall. He grows suspicious after she accepts a date so quickly from their first conversation, his suspicions only growing as he sees relevant magazine articles. His over-protectiveness for his brother leads him taking his roommate and coworker along to spy on the date. Eventually, they get caught and when all is said and done, they all go out drinking.

Previously on Gargleblasted: Taro had woken up with a hangover in the bay of the S.S. Thor. The only thing that he had on his person was a picture of his deceased parents, slightly damaged along the trip. For several weeks, he searched frantically for his brother or really any other person he knew, making friends with some of the other residents including Jack Frost and Bianca. He also adopted a Purrloin from Bianca, but was sent back home before he could pick it up (hopefully they're still there!!).

Taro was incredibly lucky and met up with his roommate and friend from Earth, Taisei, and unluckily met up with some jerks Mori and Genji. Taro and Taisei reestablished Team Jiro, with their mission being to find Jiro somewhere on the ship and then go from there. Right after their meeting, space pirates attacked the ship and took many of the inhabitants hostage. Team Jiro joined the battle fray and were able to rescue not only Jiro, but another former coworker, Yuudai.

Shortly after that, Taro was sent back to Tokyo, which was surprisingly still functional despite being swallowed by a giant space fish.

Have you read up on how the game works?: The plugin's called FlamingFerret and characters can earn money by doing missions, mooching off of others, or doing freelance work.

1st person sample:  "... Are you shitting me?" [Taro found himself in his apartment in Tokyo. It was still a mess from the night of drinking, but otherwise looked completely undisturbed. In fact, it looked just like when he left it.] "This is ridiculous. This did not happen. This did not just happen."

[He moved throughout the apartment, nudging laundry and blankets out of the way. Everything was there, the only thing missing was-] "Jiro! I JUST saw him! He was right there!" [His hands moved upwards and tangled themselves up in his hair.] "Taisei and Yuudai too! UGH, how could this happen!?" [Maybe there's a bright side to this. Maybe-

Taro burst out of the apartment and started running up the stairs, taking two steps at a time. The guys might still be on the ship, but maybe someone else was still on Earth. Maybe Shigeru was still here! Taro had almost made it to Shigeru's floor when he began to feel an unwelcome pulling in his stomach. He watched the corridor of the apartment shift into something familiar, yet alien. He was back in the S.S. Thor's bay.]

"Are you SERIOUS?!"

3rd person sample: Taro Sakana paced the floor of the S.S. Thor. He had only been in Tokyo for less than an hour, yet he had been gone from the Thor for several weeks. And even though he had already been through this entire process before, he still had to fill out paperwork. Only problem was the printer had a jam. Taro had been waiting to fill out paperwork for over an hour now and what little patience he had was already long gone even before he showed up on the Thor.

He spun around on his heels and charged at the desk. "Do I really need to do this again?! I was here before! Don't you have my records on file or something?!" The clerk looked at him disdainfully and continued to organize the writing utensils on their desk. Several minutes went by without a word. Taro was ready to throw the desk. "Hey! I'm talking to you!"

The alien looked at him as though he were covered in filth. "May I help you?" Their words came out slowly and forced, dripping with insincerity. Taro could have screamed. "WHY do I need to fill out paperwork AGAIN?! I was just here a few ho- weeks ago! Don't you have any proof of that somewhere?! Just let me go; I need to find my brother!" Again.

The clerk had recognized him from his earlier visit, though only vaguely. In fact, it was the same clerk that Taro had previously yelled at from his last visit upon the ship. But they had no intention of letting Taro know that. In fact, they found it amusing to see just how upset he could get with little to no provocation. It couldn't go on forever, though, as their lunchbreak began in a few minutes. Reluctantly, the clerk pulled up an index of all passengers, present or past, and began to search for SAKANA, TARO. Something popped up on the screen and the clerk turned to face Taro with the smuggest look they could muster (not as though he could tell).

"I am so sorry, Mr. Sakana. It appears as though you are not in our system." Pause. "WHA-" Taro's face became as red as a tomato. He could hardly articulate words. "The last time you were on board, did you finish all of the assigned paperwork? Including the puce sheets?" As a matter of fact, he did not. The last time he was on board, his paperwork had all been mysteriously blown away by some trickster guardian.

"I- You- I- nnnnnnnnngJack." Taro growled as he realized the situation he was in. The clerk smiled smugly again. "If that is the case, then all you need to do is fill out this small packet. That lets us know that you lost your original paperwork. Oh, and then you need to fill out your current paperwork." The "small" packet was as thick as Uncle Ren's arm and the other stack was nearly twice that. A disgruntled Taro groaned loudly, taking his face into his hands, and slumped onto the ground. This was going to be a long day.
